The Red One Theatre Collective is proud to present Mike Bartlett’s thrilling dark comedy CONTRACTIONS as part of their 2014 spring season at The Storefront Theatre.

Canadian theatre veteran and internationally acclaimed director Jeannette Lambermont-Morey (Stratford Festival: Pride and Prejudice, Henry V & The Miracle Worker, CanStage: Twelfth Night – Dora nomination, Juilliard School,NYC: A Midsummer Nights Dream) directs multiple award winning British playwright Mike Bartlett’s (Cock, Olivier Award winner, Bull: 2013 Best New Play – National Theatre Awards) comedy about the fine line between work and play, in which the audience is invited to be part of the meeting.

Featuring electrifying performances by Christopher Plummer Award-winning actor Catherine McNally (Citadel Theatre’s The Penelopiad; Can Stage’s A Winter’s Tale; Tarragon’s The Orphan Muses, Dora Nomination), and fresh newcomer Harmonie Tower (Single Thread Theatre’s Much Ado About Nothing; Paper Plaid Theatre’s We Few They Many and 52 Pieces). With designs from our critically acclaimed team: set and costume by Claire Hill (Safeword Theatre’s Turtleneck, Donors; Theatre By the Bay’s Nine Mile Portage; Single Thread Theatre’s Firebrand); sound design by Dimitar Pentche (“Shakespeare at the Park” festival of Dallas, Texas; Bristol Shakespeare Festival; Bulgarian ASKEER award-winner); and lighting by Melissa Joakim (Red One Theatre’s Wait until Dark, Pvt. Wars, Fool 4 Love, SHREW), this production promises to have you on the edge of your seat.

The Red One Theatre Collective strives to produce an immediate and visceral theatrical experience while fostering professional working relationships between emerging and established Canadian artists.  The Storefront Theatre is a multi-disciplinary hub dedicated to the support of  independent talent. This new venue promises to provide a program of live entertainment throughout 2014.
